What is a content calendar?

Also called: Social media calendar, Editorial calendar Updated Reviewed by the AgentMio team

Definition

A content calendar is a schedule of planned content that shows what will be published, on which channel, in which format and when, along with who owns each piece and its status.

Why it matters

A calendar turns posting from a daily scramble into a plan. It keeps every channel active, makes room for launches and seasonal moments, and shows gaps before they happen.

How to do it

  1. List the channels and how often you publish on each.
  2. Plan topics and formats for the coming weeks, including launches and events.
  3. Track each item's status: idea, draft, awaiting approval, scheduled, published.

Example

An agency plans one week for a coffee brand: three Instagram posts, two Stories, one TikTok video and a blog article, each with a date, time and approver.

FAQ

How far ahead should I plan?
