What is a large language model (LLM)?

Also called: LLM Updated Reviewed by the AgentMio team

Definition

A large language model (LLM) is an AI model trained on large amounts of text to understand and generate language. LLMs power AI chat tools, AI writing and many AI search features.

Why it matters

LLMs write the drafts in AI content tools and the answers in AI search. Understanding how they work helps you get better output and get cited.

How to do it

  1. The model predicts text based on patterns learned in training.
  2. Instructions and context, like a brand profile, steer its output.
  3. Outputs can be wrong or off-brand, so a human should review them.

Example

AgentMio uses models from providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, and gives them the brand profile so posts sound like the brand.

LLM vs. AI agent

An LLM generates text. An AI agent uses one or more models to complete a sequence of tasks toward a goal.

FAQ

Can LLMs make mistakes?

Yes. They can state wrong facts with confidence, which is why human review matters.
