What is internal linking?

Also called: Internal links Updated Reviewed by the AgentMio team

Definition

Internal linking is the practice of linking from one page of a website to other pages on the same website, helping people and search engines find and understand related content.

Why it matters

Internal links help search engines discover pages and understand how topics connect. Google lists internal links among the basics for its AI features too.

How to do it

  1. Link related pages with descriptive anchor text, not “click here”.
  2. Link from high-traffic pages to important pages.
  3. Connect topic clusters: a hub page, supporting pages and glossary terms.

Example

Each AgentMio glossary term links to related terms, the glossary index and the feature page it relates to.
